I'm Anna Stanford, a people strategist based out of Melbourne, Australia.
No one starts a job disengaged: it's a learnt reaction to an experience of being shut down. When people get the sense that an organisation doesn't really want them to bring their hearts and minds to work, then they will stop bringing them. They get slower (productivity drops). They probably get a bit cynical (morale drops). And someone who could have once been part of an epic solution, starts to become part of the problem.
In fact, according to Gallup, the situation is pretty horrendous: A massive 86% of people working in Australian organisations rate themselves as disengaged, and 20% of them are actively disengaged (read: toxic to the health of your organisation).
I help solve the issue of disengagement, and, its fraternal twin, underperformance - looking at how organisations are structured and run, and how people are incentivised to relate to each other. I work with managers, leaders, strategy and business process improvement departments, L&D professionals, and anyone wanting to get the best out of their team.
I've had an unusual journey, transitioning from lawyer to commercial manager to art therapist, before returning to the corporate world to set up departments from scratch (and to overhaul underperforming ones!). I'm a long time student of philosophy, psychology and playing, and I'm frequently to be found undertaking mad challenges, writing music or concocting something in my art room.
I'd love to be part of the solution to whatever people problem you're facing, so please feel free to contact me.
